Cha Cha Cha, established in the Mission District in 1997, is at risk of shutting down due to declining sales post-pandemic. Owner Onur Ozkaynak intends to sell the restaurant if improvements aren't seen by the summer. The Haight location is thriving, but the Mission branch has failed to reach pre-pandemic levels of patronage. Ozkaynak expressed frustration over poor customer turnout and has experimented with live music to boost interest, yet he remains uncertain about the future of the Mission location, stating he would not want to continue experiencing losses.
"I'm going to wait until May, June, maybe July. If things don't change - no more Cha Cha Cha in the Mission," said Ozkaynak.
"I've been patient since I took over to see if I see the improvements," Ozkaynak said. "I'm not trying to be a hero in San Francisco. Why suffer?"
