Scott Fair, known for his work with Mandy, Indiana, has launched a new side project named Set Dressing, with a debut EP titled 'I Can't Be Alone Tonite' set for release on April 11 via Fire Talk. The lead single 'Date Line' features a retro-style music video created by Gretchen Krueger that emphasizes 1990s toy sounds and explores darker themes obscured by bright visuals. Set Dressing maintains an element of anonymity, represented only by an avatar, and aligns with Fair's previous works under Mandy, Indiana.
Fair explained that '[Gretchen Krueger and I] felt that there was a dark undercurrent to this track that was being masked by a sugary, day-glo coat of paint.'
Set Dressing is presented as an anonymous extension of Fair's noise-rock band, represented solely by an avatar.
