A retired NYPD lieutenant was attacked by a group of teenagers while trying to stop them from harassing a cab driver on the Upper East Side. The 65-year-old intervened after witnessing the harassment but was quickly attacked, sustaining minor injuries. The attackers fled the scene, and police are actively seeking information about their identities. Descriptions and photos of the suspects have been released to the public in hopes of apprehending them. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers.
"They were looking for trouble harassing everyone they saw," said the victim, who did not want to be identified. "When they started to bother the cab driver, I went over and told them to leave him alone. That's when one coward hit me from behind with a backpack."
