Martin, 36, was arrested at 2:20 p.m. and charged with three counts of second-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief. On Saturday, officers from the Shelter Island Police Department responded to a residential burglary complaint after a homeowner reported observing an unknown individual inside her residence via interior surveillance cameras, police said."
"Upon arrival, officers observed an open entry door and confirmed that the individual had vacated the home prior to their arrival after an interior search was conducted, police said. While conducting a neighborhood search for potential witnesses and other evidence, officers spoke with a second homeowner who had just returned to their residence; during the course of the interview, the homeowner observed an unknown male inside their home, police said."
"Officers immediately intervened and placed Martin under arrest, police said. Later that evening, a third residential burglary was reported, police said. Based on investigative findings, Martin was positively linked to all three reported residential burglaries and formally charged with the same, police said. Martin is currently in custody at Shelter Island police headquarters pending arraignment before the Shelter Island Town Justice Court on Monday, police said."
