When I started working remotely in 2017 with the hopes of advancing in my career while traveling, my parents thought I was throwing away a successful life for no reason.
Burnout made me realize I had to do things differently. I wanted to travel, but I also wanted to keep advancing in my career, so I started to look for postgraduate studies.
Convincing my employer was not easy. Remote work wasn't popular back then, and I had to negotiate extensively and justify my productivity.
By the time I graduated from college, I was chasing what I thought was the ideal career: a finance job in Washington, DC.
