Cafe 2001, opened on February 3, 2025, is a new restaurant that transitions from a sunny daytime cafe to a vibrant wine bar. Partnering with Giles Clark, former sous chef from Yess, owner Kino Kaetsu offers a diverse menu featuring pork tenderloin katsu sandwiches, smoked trout, and an array of pastries. The cafe's unique ambiance combines historical and modern design, featuring exposed brick walls and a skylight. Clark aims to create an inviting space for casual dining and socializing while serving a curated selection of natural wines and sake.
Clark says the goal was to conjure the easygoing spirit of an American diner but with a 'somewhere accessible for a steadying brew, satisfying feed, and a good hang.'
The cafe's most distinctive feature is its ambience - the restaurant is set in a bi-level former bank space with walls stripped to exposed brick.
