Craig and Annie Stoll have had a lifelong passion for pizza, rooted in their childhood experiences on the East Coast. Since opening Pizzeria Delfina in San Francisco's Mission District in 2005, they have greatly expanded their restaurant and have become influential in the Bay Area's pizza landscape. Originally a small eatery, Pizzeria Delfina now operates multiple locations and distributes frozen pizzas to various grocery stores. Their unique blend of Neapolitan and New York-style pizzas has set trends, marking them as pioneers in the artisanal pizza movement well before many popular competitors.
"People were not as obsessed and weren't pushing it as hard," Craig recalled of the early aughts. "It was just a different world in terms of pizza."
"It took me about a year to nail down the pizza dough recipe after taking trips to Naples," Craig shared about the journey to perfect their offerings.
The Stolls have expanded Pizzeria Delfina from a 600-square-foot space with 24 seats to four Bay Area locations and a retail frozen pizza branch.
The husband's and wife's early love for pizza drove their passion, turning Pizzeria Delfina into one of the Bay Area's pioneering artisanal pizzerias.
