Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard will miss the Champions League opener at Athletic Bilbao after suffering a recurrence of a shoulder injury sustained in the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Odegaard had been troubled by the same shoulder before the international break and did not travel with the squad. Bukayo Saka remains sidelined with a hamstring problem, while Kai Havertz (knee) and Gabriel Jesus (ACL) are also unavailable. Mikel Arteta stressed the need for a full squad and clinical finishing to advance in Europe. Goalkeeper David Raya said the team is targeting success in both domestic and European competitions. Arsenal have three wins from four in the Premier League so far.
