Duolingo wants to make its green owl mascot 'as famous as Pikachu' with its first pop-up store
Briefly

"To one day make Duo as famous as Pikachu," Michelle Sharp, Duolingo's director of marketing operations, said in an interview with Modern Retail. "Everything that we're doing... is all towards that goal."
The pop-up store had a claw machine with plushies and other prizes, and attendees with a 30-day or more streak get a ticket to play the machine.
Duo was permitted to walk the red carpet after the app was referenced in the blockbuster movie Barbie. This demonstrates the mascot's cultural impact and growing popularity.
Guests had to complete a Duolingo lesson to enter the pop-up, reinforcing the app's core principles while providing interactive, engaging experiences for its users.
