Holiday fliers using San Francisco International Airport should expect bigger crowds than last year, with 6.3 million travelers expected during the holiday season, a 15% increase.
SFO's holiday travel season begins in earnest on Friday, Nov. 22, with an estimated 160,000 passengers passing through on that day alone, as travel is projected to peak.
Parking garages will be at or near capacity over the holiday period, and travelers are urged to use public transit or shared rides to access the airport.
The airport officials have recommended travelers arrive at least two hours early for domestic flights and three hours for international flights to navigate the increased crowd.
