A 56-year-old victim was sleeping on a Manhattan 1 train when attacked by a man with a knife. The attacker stabbed the victim three times in the head. NYPD officers from Transit District 3, patrolling nearby, responded to the commotion and arrested the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Geovalny Alcantara. A knife was recovered at the scene. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is in stable condition. The motive for the assault remains unknown, and charges against the attacker are pending.
A 56-year-old victim was allegedly sleeping on a southbound 1 train when a knife-wielding attacker stabbed him three times in the head.
The assailant, identified as 20-year-old Geovalny Alcantara, was arrested by officers from Transit District 3 after responding to a commotion.
Police recovered a knife at the scene of the attack and the victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
As of now, a motive for the assault has not been established and charges against Alcantara are pending.
