Cornell University has appointed Krystyn J. Van Vliet as vice president for innovation and external engagement strategy and Dr. Gary Koretzky as interim vice provost for research. These appointments, effective March 1, are aimed at strengthening the university's research, innovation, and partnerships amidst evolving challenges. Provost Kavita Bala emphasized the importance of innovation and the necessary stewardship of Cornell's research portfolio. Koretzky will oversee research administration across multiple Cornell campuses and is committed to ensuring faculty have the support they need for continued excellence in research.
Cornell's robust research portfolio deserves and requires a dedicated steward, and the need for innovation and external engagement will be essential in the years ahead.
I am honored to have been asked by the provost to take on this responsibility. Scholarship and discovery at Cornell are truly world class.
