Holly Hudson, a recent graduate in video game design, faces difficulties securing a job due to layoffs and studio closures in the gaming sector. As of June 2025, there are nearly 700 active vacancies in UK game development, but fewer than 5% are for junior positions. Despite these challenges, Holly and her classmate Harvey Hayman released their first commercial game, 'Morgan: Metal Detective.' Inspired by personal experiences, the game is self-financed with the duo balancing their passion project with other jobs to sustain themselves.
