Tour a Reimagined Hollywood Regency-style House in Dallas
Briefly

Architect Peter Pennoyer and interior designer Ashley Avrea Cathey collaborated on a renovation of a 1927 Hollywood Regency home in Highland Park. Emphasizing a blend of glamour and whimsy, they sought to enhance the home’s historical charm while making it functional for a modern family that loves to entertain. The duo focused on maintaining the house's original character through thoughtful design, aiming for an aesthetic that celebrates the past while also improving the layout to suit the present-day lifestyle of the homeowners and their children.
This family knew that we love working on old houses, says Pennoyer, explaining what drew the preservation-minded homeowners to his Manhattan-based firm. We love making them the best they can be and also changing them, weaving our design eye through, but in a subtle way.
Our mantra is always to be the best version of what our clients' vision is, Cathey echoes Pennoyer's point of view on the need for a designer to have a light hand.
The astounding Hollywood Regency character of the house and its exterior, including tall ionic columns, suggested the interior redesign could have a bit more fun.
For both designers and homeowners, the key was to celebrate the house's past while simultaneously improving its design to better serve present-day needs.
