Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver has been requested to interview for the Ravens' head coaching vacancy created by firing Harbaugh Tuesday night, according to an NFL Network report Wednesday. Weaver has significant ties to the Ravens. He was drafted by them out of Notre Dame in 2002, playing his first four seasons with the franchise. He returned to coach in Baltimore as an assistant from 2021 through 2023.
PITTSBURGH -- The Baltimore Ravens ruled out starting wide receiver Rashod Bateman for Sunday night's AFC North title game against at the Steelers. Bateman had been listed as questionable after missing every practice with an illness. But Baltimore downgraded Bateman, the team's fifth-leading receiver, on Saturday after he did not make the trip to Pittsburgh. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Friday that Bateman was dealing with a "pretty serious" bout with the flu, but he had thought Bateman would be cleared by game day.
Week 17 is absolutely begging us to overreact to it. The Steelers have already blown it! Derrick Henry is going to play five more seasons and break every record! The Texans' defense is going to be unbeatable in the playoffs! Tyler Shough is a franchise QB! The Commanders need to fire everybody! A lot happened before Sunday in Week 17. There was a lot resolved, too, and a spicy Week 18 is set up with two division titles and two 1-seeds on the line.
Six Baltimore Ravens players have been selected for this season's Pro Bowl Games despite the team almost certainly missing the playoffs. The Ravens lead the league in Pro Bowl nods, alongside the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. Baltimore's Pro Bowlers are fullback Patrick Ricard, wide receiver Zay Flowers, center Tyler Linderbaum, linebacker Roquan Smith, safety Kyle Hamilton and punter Jordan Stout.
In the days leading up to the game, Burrow said that if he wants to keep playing, he wants to have fun doing it. That sparked considerable speculation about his status with the Bengals, the team that drafted him first overall in 2020. Burrow firmly squashed that notion. "My comments had nothing to do with Cincinnati," Burrow said after the game. "My comments had everything to do with me and my mindset and football."
The Ravens signed Alexander to a one-year, $4 million contract on June 18 in a move that reunited him with his former Louisville teammate Lamar Jackson and added a fifth former first-round pick to the Baltimore secondary. But Alexander missed a chunk of training camp with a knee injury and then struggled in the Ravens' fourth-quarter collapse of season-opening 41-40 loss in Buffalo.
According to reports, a series of leisure items--including video games, cornhole boards, a ping pong table, and a basketball hoop--have been removed from the team locker room for the time being.
Since the start of the Jonathan Gannon era (2023 to now), Jacoby Brissett is the quarterback who has thrown for the most passing yards in a single game. And, he did it against the league's fourth-ranked scoring defense. So this begs the important question: why do they need Kyler Murray? He doesn't elevate his team or make the guys around him better, as proven by the embarrassing loss they suffered at the hands of the Titans.
