The German police last week announced the shutdown of the second iteration of the Crimenetwork crime marketplace. Crimenetwork was taken down in December 2024, after more than 12 years of operation, and a suspected administrator was arrested. Days later, the German-speaking online marketplace was resurrected on newly built infrastructure, and has since grown to have over 22,000 users and more than 100 sellers. The majority of the marketplace's users are likely German speakers, the police said.

As identity theft continues to rise, experts have discovered the sale of national identity documents, driving licences, credit card details and 2,000 UK frequent traveller passports. The information can be exploited in multiple ways and used to apply for credit cards, mortgages, car loans, or to open bank accounts.
Mateo Ventura, 21, was arrested and charged in a complaint on June 8, 2023, and pleaded guilty to one count of concealment of financing of terrorism on Oct. 15. Ventura was convicted of providing multiple electronic gift cards to an individual he believed was an ISIS operative, intending that they be sold on the dark web for under face value with the profits being used to support ISIS.
"Came across a purported video of Epstein's suicide (leaked by anonymous source)," the email reads, referencing an attachment and linking to a Google Drive file. "Is this real???" WIRED spoke with the owner of the phone number listed on the website included in the email's signature. Ali Kabbaj, who identified himself as an independent journalist, said that he found the video on the dark web and sent it to federal investigators in 2021 for confirmation. He says he never got a reply.
