According to police and court records, Raul Quintana, 31, of Newark, was driving a sedan at more than 100 mph with a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit. He was charged with felony driving under the influence causing injury to another person and having a blood alcohol content of more than .08 percent . Quintana, who was hospitalized after the crash, was formally charged Oct. 30 and arrested Wednesday.

The suspect then used the other person's debit card to make an unauthorized withdrawal of approximately $8,433. Grand theft: At 7:15 p.m. in a parking lot in the 20000 block of Fourth Street, someone fled with a box of Pokemon cards valued at $1,600 without paying after meeting the seller to see the cards.
Oct. 22 DUI, Suspended license: At 11:53 p.m., deputies stopped a motorist at Saratoga Avenue and Kosich Drive for a traffic violation. An investigation revealed the motorist was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a suspended license. The suspect was arrested and booked into main jail. Oct. 23 Petty theft and theft by credit card: Someone entered an unlocked vehicle at the Saratoga Country Club and stole $300 in cash and credit cards.
Chi Hung Leung, a 50-year-old Bath Beach resident, collided with a Nassau County police vehicle just before 6 a.m. Monday in East Hills, the county police department said Tuesday in an alert. Leung initially tried to speed away from the scene in his vehicle, but when that didn't work he took off on foot, according to police. However, he was quickly located nearby by additional officers.
In 2024, there were 336 reported collisions in Mountain View, 62 of which were primarily caused by driving under the influence, according to a report presented to the City Council earlier this month. Unsafe turns, unsafe speeds and failure to yield were also identified as frequent primary causes for crashes. The Mountain View police transparency dashboard, which provides data about traffic collisions going back to 2022, shows that driving under the influence was the primary cause of more crashes in 2024.
A Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling southbound on Pope Valley Road in unincorporated Napa County, 12 miles north of St. Helena, when it crashed into a tree on the side of the road. The minivan had eight men in it, including the driver, 53-year-old Norberto Celerino of Stockton. Six of the passengers were killed and one was critically injured. Celerino, who did not have a valid driver's license, survived, and we learned a few days later that he had three previous DUI convictions.
The incident unfolded just before 8 p.m. at South El Camino Real and Avila Road during San Mateo's Cruise Night, an annual event that draws thousands of classic automobile enthusiasts, the San Mateo Police Department said in a news release. Officers were driving along the cruise route when a Buick made an illegal U-turn in front of them, causing them and others to slam on their brakes, according to police. When officers tried to stop the Buick, the driver sped up, steered into oncoming traffic and ran a red light, police said, adding that the officers did not pursue the Buick.

Mountain View police have arrested a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of hitting a pedestrian with her car after she had been drinking. At 9:47 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, officers were dispatched to to the area of W. El Camino Real and Miramonte Avenue/Shoreline Boulevard regarding calls about a car-vs-pedestrian accident. When police and Mountain View fire-paramedics arrived, they provided medical aid to the victim, a 64-year-old Mountain View resident, who was then taken to a hospital.
Nicolas Braun, the actor best known for his role as cousin Greg in "Succession," was arrested in New Hampshire over Labor Day weekend for allegedly driving under the influence, according to reports. Moultonborough police arrested Braun, 37, around 11:15 p.m. on Friday, according to WBZ. He was charged with DUI impairment and operating without lights following a traffic stop on Lee Road.
