The new 1.3km track, which has been called Motoland is located in Gurteen, Coolgreany, just outside Gorey and is owned and ran by Rathdrum Offroad Club. Mervyn Griffin of Rathdrum Offroad Club was delighted with the support of the special opening which took place on Saturday, May 9. "It was a great day, a little bit windy," he said. The track was officially opened by Tom Scrapper Kavanagh.
For the past two years, the club has acted as Chair of East Coast Bowls which is the reason Gorey has hosted the awards night. The club was founded in 1985 and were delighted to celebrate their 40 year anniversary while acting as Chair. At the end of the league season, each club in the east coast region from Shankill to Gorey hold special matches such as mixed singles, mixed doubles, millennium cup, and champion of champions to end the season in style.
