Arsenal forward Olivia Smith was taken off on a stretcher during the Gunners' 3-0 victory over Bristol City in the Women's FA Cup. Smith, 21, was involved in a clash of heads early in the second half, which led to lengthy pause in play and 14 minutes of second-half stoppage time. She was carried off the pitch, having been fitted with a neck brace, to a standing ovation inside the Mangata Developments Stadium.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Portland Trail Blazers reserve center Yang Hansen walked off the court on his own after a scary collision and head injury midway through the fourth quarter against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. Hansen scrambled for a loose ball under the Blazers' basket with 6:55 remaining and was trying to pass it out when Golden State's Will Richard made contact to the back of Hansen's head with his knee.

Strahinja Pavlovic had to have stitches in his head after a collision with Pietro Comuzzo during Sunday's draw against Fiorentina. It was one of those games where Comuzzo seemed determined to do damage with his head. A man was arrested Saturday after a fight during a Bruins game at TD Garden that led to another man being hospitalized with a head injury, police said. The man arrested, identified by police as Aaron Tucker, 49, is set to be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court Monday on charges of assault and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and assault and battery against a 60+ or disabled victim, according to a Boston police report.

Birthdays are always a big deal in my family we love any excuse to spend time together. My dad's 60th, in May last year, was a particularly special one, as we had family travelling from Germany to Eastbourne, in East Sussex, to celebrate. I spent the first part of the morning with my sisters at my mum's nearby. She has a birthday in the same week, so we were celebrating hers first.
