The contestants include a civil engineer, a "Big Brother" star, and a Ph.D. candidate specializing in HIV research. Drama has surrounded the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, but the show must go on. A new winner will be crowned in Thailand on Friday morning by Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær Theilvig, the first woman from Denmark to win the title.
Of course, before I could think too hard about the countdown clock, I had to deal with the fact that about a quarter of the television screen was taken up by an advertisement for some interactive game called Peacock ScoreCard, which NBC Universal describes as "bingo meets fantasy sports" and seems like a great way to give kids gambling brain. I had to use the remote to highlight and select a "back to full screen" banner in order to get the advertisement for the stupid bingo game to go away.
One of Paramount's most powerful creative minds has left the production company. Taylor Sheridan-whose major hits, including Yellowstone, Landman, and Lioness, made him one of Paramount's most powerful writers and producers-has ditched the media house. The move comes shortly after a new chief executive, David Ellison, came on board in August and a merger between the company and Skydance was approved. Sheridan will remain involved with his Paramount projects until his current deal ends in January.
They didn't reveal the dollars involved, but a press release mentions that it includes an agreement for some full TV shows, clips, and highlights on regular YouTube, as well as confirming the relaunch of NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) after it shut down four years ago.
