The affordability of cars has drastically declined, making ownership a financial burden for many Americans.
Meta's AI-powered glasses are designed to enhance personal presence, allowing users to engage more fully with their surroundings while offering features that could assist those with vision impairments or hearing loss.
Sometimes, they report the cars for signs of an illegal maneuver, like when in September, a driver operating the city's 45 electric bus noticed a Waymo trying to pass on double solid yellow lines at Stockton and Columbus, an intersection along its route. Or for a near miss-like, when, last December, a Waymo was caught by a city light rail train's video camera making a dangerous left turn at 'high speed.'
"Consumers don't have all the information at once," Griffin Li, the app's 19-year-old creator, told SFGATE. "They have to sort of make suboptimal decisions and spend more money. And this is just a way to help."
Uber Eats might end up playing a key role in its parent company's robotaxi business, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said. The ride-hailing app is working with multiple companies, such as Alphabet-backed Waymo, to make self-driving cars available through its app. Waymo's robotaxis have already proven more efficient than most human Uber drivers in cities such as Atlanta and Austin, Uber has said.
