The hawk was found, unable to fly, on a picnic table at a San Jose park in late July, suffering from an open head wound and tearing and swelling in her right eye impacting her vision, which is integral to hunting for food, according to a press release from PHS/SPCA. Seal Rescue Ireland, based in Courtown, Co Wexford, has an extensive network of volunteers around the country who rescue distressed seals and transport them to the charity's care facility. Seal Rescue Ireland is a charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured, or orphaned seals. Founded in 2010, the charity was originally based in Dingle, Co Kerry, before a large storm in 2014 destroyed their original facility and caused them to move to their current home in Courtown, Co Wexford.
The White Stork Project in Sussex has sought to create new colonies of rehabilitated injured birds at Knepp and Wadhurst Park since 2016, with its first success in breeding occurring in 2020.
