The NHL regular season concludes soon, with playoff berths still up for grabs as teams vie for positions in the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs.
"Without an arena, there isn't much to discuss." This statement from OHL commissioner Bryan Crawford underscores the critical need for Chatham-Kent to develop a suitable venue to move forward with their expansion aspirations.
It was pretty hard a year for me and for the team, of course. But I think just this year, it's been such a different experience, and I've really enjoyed it so far. The way we are with each other, it's so positive and so much joy in our room. I think it shows on the ice, and we've been able to have some success, but now it's time to keep it going and make that push.
Entering Monday's NHL action, the Los Angeles Kings were fourth in the NHL in goals against per game (2.74), tied for eighth in save percentage (.904), ninth in shots against (1,356), and third in goals against (137). While the Kings are struggling to score goals (Los Angeles is 28th in goals for per game), they are getting good performances from their goaltending and their defence.
Winnipeg is coming off a big win, and they're a tough team at home. They're playing a lot better, and they're a big, heavy team. The top line is dangerous, for sure, and obviously, their goalie is elite. We have to do a good job against that top line, and we're going to have to out-compete that goalie tonight. He is good, so we need second and third opportunities around the net.
After appearances from some of Fedorov's former Red Wings teammates, namely Nicklas Lidstrom, Tomas Holmstrom, Bob Rouse, and Chris Chelios, Ovechkin, the lone Capitals representative, shared some words for his countryman. "Hey, Feds, congrats on your jersey retirement," Ovechkin said. "Obviously, you have unbelievable career. You help me growing up as a person, as a player. One of the best player I ever play with."
Yeah, I feel like I was cursed for a while, Thompson said. I've been feeling pretty good about my game, but couldn't find a way to get a point or two points. Really happy. The guys in front of me were tremendous tonight made my life easy. Just happy to get the two points. I didn't care how many goals I let in today; I just wanted to win.
Protas comes out of the lineup after he missed some of Washington's loss to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, after Senators defenseman Artem Zub sent him crashing into the boards with a dangerous trip in Thursday's first period. The Belarusian winger went skates-first into the boards and was very slow to get up. The 24-year-old forward did return to the game and skated 14:55 of total ice time in the 4-3 defeat.
No Connor Bedard, no Frank Nazar, and the Capitals still got dominated five-on-five by one of the worst teams in the league. The Blackhawks owned 57.5 percent of the shot attempts, 53 percent of the scoring chances, and 55.6 percent of the expected goals. I know the Capitals were also missing three of their top forwards, but they still have plenty enough to beat a team that will be all over the draft lottery again.
