The Block, a new restaurant by Kristin Canty, is set to open later in May at Pier 4 in the Seaport. In collaboration with chef Charlie Foster, it aims to offer a more casual dining experience compared to Woods Hill Pier 4, while maintaining a focus on local ingredients from Canty's farm. The menu will feature a variety of tapas-style small plates, dry-aged meats, and unique items like raw cheeses and a bone broth program, all within a visually distinctive, woodsy-themed space.
"All of our meat is grass-fed and grass-finished, which makes it a little lean," says Canty, referring to cattle that only forage and feed on grass throughout their lives.
"It will be a little different, a little more adventurous," says Canty, hinting at the innovative menu that will include tapas-style plates and big salads.
I'm trying to make it woodsy, darker, and more edgy," Canty says of the restaurant's design, emphasizing the unique aesthetic created with local artists.
The restaurant will have a large bar that seats around 24 people, table seating for 34, and a chef's table where Canty hopes to host guest chefs and authors for classes.
