Migrant who kicked cop in wild Times Square brawl gets 1-year sentence - but union says it's 'not enough'
Briefly

Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, 19, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault related to a Times Square brawl, receiving a one-year sentence criticized for being too lenient.
"Mr. Gomez, if you get arrested again in New York state, you will be a predicate felon, and you will wind up upstate," warned Judge Laura Ward during sentencing.
"364 days is not enough. This individual should be behind bars a lot longer. If you attack a New York City police officer, you should stay behind bars," stated Patrick Hendry.
Gomez-Izquiel, involved in a January 27 scuffle that erupted outside a migrant shelter, became the second suspect sentenced in the ongoing investigation.
