Thick, Anti-Smash Burger Burgers and Lagers Arrive in a 1940s Sunset Building
Briefly

Fifty Vara, opening on March 31 in San Francisco, promises a vibrant dining experience with its anti-smash burgers and Czech-inspired beers. Owner Brian Reccow aims to enrich the local community with this venture in the historic Sunset Reservoir. The menu, crafted by chef Adriana Fleming, combines high-end seasonality with playful Spanish-inspired appetizers. The restaurant's design, featuring natural light and plants, offers a welcoming ambiance, creating an appealing spot for locals and visitors alike while revitalizing a cherished location since the '40s.
The space is set to offer big, anti-smash burger burgers off the grill with a potato's worth of fries flanking alongside Czech Republic-inspired beers.
Reccow, who has lived in the Sunset since 1997, says he felt personally responsible to keep this location alive.
The menu is meant to invoke those same old-school San Francisco vibes: high-end seasonality, sure, but beers-by-the-beach energy, too.
We're bullish on San Francisco,' Reccow says. 'This is my community. It's super important there's an evolution in this property that's been here since the '40s.
