Nvidia technical leader says young software engineers should develop 2 key skills
Briefly

The job market for entry-level software engineers is increasingly difficult, as highlighted by Nvidia's principal architect, Bryce Adelstein Lelbach. He notes that large tech firms are prioritizing senior talent, leaving fewer opportunities for junior developers. The pandemic has led to mass layoffs, increasing competition among job seekers. Lelbach urges young programmers to hone their writing and math skills, as effective communication and foundational math remain crucial in a rapidly evolving tech landscape. He also emphasizes the importance of internships for gaining practical experience.
I think that it's a very challenging time for young programmers. We saw a lot of tech companies pull back on hiring.
Especially with the emergence of large language models, it's going to become even more important to be able to communicate your ideas.
While there may be a future where we humans do a lot less programming, the fundamentals that you learn in math are always going to be relevant.
I think the best option is to have internships...you need to have internships essentially every year to get a job as a software engineer.
