Why is Switch 2 so expensive? Nintendo explains
Briefly

Nintendo's recent reveal of the Switch 2 has generated attention not only for its new games, like Donkey Kong, but significantly for its price points. With the console priced at $449.99 and games reaching up to $79.99, it's clear that Nintendo's next generation targets a premium market. In an interview with Bill Trinen, the vice president of player & product experience at Nintendo, he attributed the rising prices to inflation and increased technological features, including enhanced controllers and system-wide chat capabilities, adding value to the gaming experience.
As Trinen elaborated, 'I think we’re also seeing smart devices now... they’re certainly a lot more expensive than they were when they originally came out in the mid-2000s.'
Trinen stated, 'As you add more technology into a system, especially in this day and age, that drives additional cost,' indicating inflation's role in escalating prices.
