EC-Council, creator of the world-renowned Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) credential and a global leader in applied cybersecurity education, today launched its Enterprise AI Credential Suite, with four new role-based AI certifications debuting alongside Certified CISO v4, an overhauled executive cyber leadership program. The dual launch is the largest single expansion of EC-Council's portfolio in its 25-year history. It addresses a structural gap that no single tool, platform, or policy can solve alone: AI is scaling faster than the workforce trained to run, secure, and govern it.

"I continuously find myself reckoning with our situation. The world is in peril. And not just from AI, or bioweapons, but from a whole series of interconnected crises unfolding in this very moment. We appear to be approaching a threshold where our wisdom must grow in equal measure to our capacity to affect the world, lest we face the consequences."

This annual survey of more than 1,300 global leaders and experts shows a fascinating divide in perceptions of short-term and longer-term risks. Most are anxious about physical conflict in the short term, ranking 'geoeconomic confrontation' as the most pressing global risk over the next two years. Misinformation and disinformation came second, with societal polarization coming third. Collectively, economic risks showed the largest jump, with more concerns about an economic downturn, inflation and an asset bubble burst

OpenAI researchers tried to train the company's AI to stop "scheming" - a term the company defines as meaning "when an AI behaves one way on the surface while hiding its true goals" - but their efforts backfired in an ominous way. In reality, the team found, they were unintentionally teaching the AI how to more effectively deceive humans by covering its tracks.

As AI advances, so too does the desperation of those trying to stop it. Two men, worried about the threat AI poses to humanity's future, are now on hunger strike outside the offices of Anthropic and DeepMind. For Guido Reichstadter, a 45-year-old activist, Sunday marked a week of protest without food. Reichstadter told Business Insider he plans to remain until the company responds to his concerns about the direction of AI development.

“In light of the recent uptick of cyber incidents targeting MSPs, it is unsurprising that customers are scrutinizing MSPs more,” said Jamie Akhtar, CEO and Co-Founder of CyberSmart.
