The SP5+ is considered a fitness-focused electric bike with an aluminum frame, carbon fork, one-piece aluminum stem/bar, and aluminum wheels. The frame houses a Branta-branded XDS Mid-Drive X800 motor with 250-watt maximum continuous rated power, and 400 watt peak power, and 85Nm of torque.

A speed limiter is a built-in system that determines the maximum speed at which an electric bike's motor will continue to assist the rider. Once the bike reaches a certain speed, the motor gradually reduces power or stops assisting altogether. This system is controlled by the bike's controller, the small onboard computer that manages the motor, battery, and sensors.
The bill, S4834/ A6235, requires cyclists to register any class of electric bicycle with New Jersey's Motor Vehicle Commission - the Garden State's version of the DMV - and obtain liability insurance for class 2 electric bicycles. Sam Schwartz Engineering in 2024 completed a 77-page report for the Central Park Conservancy, which found that 42 million people use the park annually, with pedestrians comprising more than half, including many who sometimes feel unsafe crossing roads. Esteban Doyle, of the Department of Transportation, said the study was done to improve safety and comfort in the park, better allocate space for users, create better separation and improve crossings.
