Donations are flooding in for one of the victims of the Brown University shooting, and Providence is showing up for the Ivy League community in more ways than one. A verified GoFundMe for MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, who was fatally shot, has raised more than $370,000 of a $460,000 goal as of Monday evening.
The company apologized and issued changes. GoFundMe used to charge a platform fee to cover the costs of running their business. However, in late 2017, the company removed that platform fee and shifted to an optional tipping model. And some 7 On Your Side viewers argue that model can be unfair and misleading. Local News The community has raised over $240,000 for Hadley Boucher's medical expenses. The city of Leominster held a Christmas parade for a first grader with inoperable brain cancer on Sunday. Hadley Boucher, 6, of Lunenberg, was diagnosed with the inoperable tumor on her brain stem in April, according to a GoFundMe page created for her family. Residents were asked to decorate their cars, dress up, and drive past the Boucher's house for "Haddie's Holly Jolly Christmas Parade," an event organizer posted on Facebook.
So these organizations could be forgiven for being surprised when it emerged this fall that crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, better known for helping individuals and families raise money for medical expenses and other personal causes, booted up some 1.6 million pages benefiting US nonprofits, including dozens of major art museums, without informing the institutions themselves or giving them the opportunity to opt out.

A man has been accused of killing his 18-year-old daughter. Onyx Cornish was found dead at her home in Caldwell, Idaho, last Tuesday (19 August) by officers responding to reports of an armed man, in the house. According to an affidavit, her body was found wrapped in a Pride flag, Idaho News 6 reports. Her father, 51-year-old Delbert Cornish, was arrested later that evening. Cornish was charged with murder and aggravated assault, according to court reports seen by People.
