The Falcons and Bears have opened the 21-day practice windows for three injured reserve players today. All three will have the next three weeks in which they can participate in practice until they are completely cleared and able to be activated off of IR at any time during that window. If they fail to be activated after 21 days, they will revert to IR and will not be eligible to be activated to the active roster again this season.
The injury isn't season ending, the source said. The former first-team All-Pro got caught in a pileup on a third-and-2 running play and left the game. He didn't return. Williams was replaced by Marcelino McCrary-Ball, who plays predominantly on special teams. Williams is an every-down linebacker and tone setter with sideline-to-sideline speed. He has 1.5 sacks, 15 tackles (second on the team) and two tackles for loss.
Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been placed on injured reserve due to a thigh injury that has kept him out of both games this season, the team announced Saturday. Greenlaw will now be set to miss at least another four games. One of the Broncos' biggest additions in free agency, Greenlaw did not participate in the offseason program due to a thigh injury he suffered in training.
EAGAN, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings have lost linebacker Blake Cashman for at least a month because of a hamstring injury he suffered Monday night in the team's 27-24 victory over the Chicago Bears. The Vikings placed Cashman, their primary defensive signal-caller, and running back/kick returner Ty Chandler (knee) on injured reserve Thursday, sidelining both for at least the next four games.
New York Jets offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker suffered a torn triceps that will land him on injured reserve and likely end his season just days before kick-off for Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers at MetLife Stadium. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was first to report the severity of the injury on Thursday morning, after it came to light a day earlier that the 26-year-old guard had sustained a serious arm injury.
Among the outcasts was The Hulk, as incredible as that may seem for undrafted rookie Sebastian Valdez, a defensive tackle who got that nickname from offensive linemen. Among the procedural shenanigans: punter Thomas Morstead got released, almost assuredly for just 24 hours so a player can slide Wednesday on to non-season-ending Injured Reserve, such as wide receiver Jacob Cowing. Almost half of the roster is devoted to the trenches. They've kept 10 offensive linemen (yes to rookie Drew Moss, no to guard Nick Zakelj).
