I'm very excited and honored to be working with the wonderful Harper NonFiction Team on my very own book full of lots of fun stories, anecdotes and of course my incredible experiences with some of the greatest musicians and performers from the 70s, 80s and beyond! I am blessed to be able to finally share my path to where I am today, in my own words, with the world.
Inspired by writing classes she took during the pandemic, Venegas began by drafting personal essays before losing interest and going back to her day job. "I just wanted to do another record," she admitted. "I wasn't really interested in my own memoir." She soon realized that her new songs were beginning to parrot the themes and stories of those essays. Didion describes San Bernadino County as 'the country of the teased hair and the Capris and the girls for whom all life's promise comes down to a waltz-length white wedding dress and the birth of a Kimberly or a Sherry or a Debbi and a Tijuana divorce and a return to hairdressers' school.'
In his new memoir Landon, which releases on March 24, the long-retired, 44-year-old star recounts how close he came to taking his own life on that trip. After smoking a joint with a duo he met on the island, he reported feeling zero effects and prepared for a restful night of sleep. Instead, he suffered through a nightmarish, night-long hallucinogenic episode, completely alone. There were worms in his sink. Frogs all over the floor. And a voice in his head, urging him to throw himself into the ocean.
