The Warriors used to be the greatest show on hardwood. Night after night, they were doing a genre-pushing, never-before-seen live improv set a blur of movement and mouthguard chewing and some of the most ridiculous and beautiful basketball that went beyond the realm of even your wildest imaginations. Man, were they fun. But that is not a word I would use to describe this year's Warriors. No, these Warriors are doing something laboriously, painfully joyless. What a slog.
Before the season, Morton was given the tall task of following previous coordinator Ben Johnson in the role. Johnson, who took the head coaching job with the Chicago Bears in the offseason, had helped turn the Lions into one of the NFL's top offenses over his three years in charge -- helping the unit top the league in points (30.15 per game), offensive efficiency and first downs the past two seasons.
I'll leave that for everybody else to decide. I'll just focus on the day-to-day ... I feel like you're always coaching for everything in this league, you know? That's just my mindset. It's always been that way. You can't ever exhale. You got to always be pushing. That's just my mindset and that will be my mindset 'til they tell me not to coach anymore.
It was a good season for the Reds in 2025, on balance. Hunter Greene replicated his excellent 2024 andcemented himself one of the game's top young starters, Andrew Abbott enjoyed a career-year that saw him make his first trip to the All-Star game, and despite winning just 83 games the club managed to squeak into the postseason for the first time in a full season since 2013.
It was a disappointing season, though Kansas City really performed rather admirably considering that they got just 13 starts out of staff ace Cole Ragans while found himself sidelined for the second half by an injury of his own. While health in the rotation helped to sink the team this year, it's possible that the team's deep arsenal of starters could help them reinvent the team on the trade market as they look ahead to 2026.
It's way too early to label a game as a must-win for the Miami Heat, but there's no question that all eyes will be on Bam Adebayo heading into their second game of the season against the Memphis Grizzlies. And this is not necessarily about the fact that the Heat have now gone winless through their first six preseason games, and then in the season opener.
All things considered, it was a solid year for the Yankees even if it didn't live up to the perennial World-Series-or-bust expectations of their fans. Despite Gerrit Cole not throwing a single pitch for the team this year and signing elsewhere last winter, they managed to win 94 games thanks to a few key additions like and Cody Bellinger, big steps forward from and Trent Grisham, and another MVP-caliber campaign from Aaron Judge.
While we are committed to a patient and strategic plan to build a sustainable, winning football program, we have not demonstrated sufficient growth, Brinker said in a statement. Our players, fans, and community deserve a football team that achieves a standard we are not currently meeting, and we are committed to making the hard decisions necessary to reach and maintain that standard.
As much as people may want to blame the pitching, allowing three runs in a game with such high stakes is quite impressive. Drew Pomeranz gave up a home run to William Contreras in the 1st inning, which continued the improbably historic run both teams were on when it came to scoring in the opening frame. Seiya Suzuki answered quickly with a solo shot of his own in what would be a trend for the game.
So close. So close to a seventh-inning home run that could have made Game 3 a game. So close to a home run that could have revitalized baseball's best player in this National League Division Series. Ohtani is now one for 14 with seven strikeouts in this best-of-five series, in which the Dodgers' lead was reduced to two games to one after an 8-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
For Andy Reid's Chiefs, the problem that dogged them throughout last season, even as they reached a third successive Super Bowl, has persisted, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes shackled by an anaemic offense. Kansas City did at least claim a first win of the season last week as they saw off the New York Giants 22-9 on the road, but that success did little to win over the doubters that are growing in number amid the Chiefs' continued struggles.
Stanford has a new quarterback, a completely new receiving corps and a new offense under interim coach Frank Reich, but it has still struggled to score (18.3 points per game, last in the ACC). Then again, San Jose State has been even worse (17.3), which should help the Stanford defense bounce back from its worst performance of the season in last week's 48-20 loss at Virginia.
MIAMI GARDNES, Fla. - Miami Dolphins players held a players-only meeting on the team's off day Tuesday in the wake of their 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, to make sure they remained "on the same page." The Dolphins allowed Indianapolis to score on all seven of its offensive possessions Sunday, while their 211 yards of offense marked their lowest total under coach Mike McDaniel in a game which quarterback Tua Tagovailoa starts.
