GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A gunman opened fire inside a church in Michigan during Sunday services before apparently setting the building ablaze, killing at least two people and injuring several others before police shot him, authorities said Hundreds of people were inside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township when a 40-year-old man rammed a pickup truck through the front door, then got out of the vehicle and started shooting, Police Chief William Renye told reporters.
FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. -- A suspect is dead after allegedly dragging an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer with his vehicle in the west Chicago suburb of Franklin Park on Friday, ICE said in a statement. ICE said its officers were conducting "targeted law enforcement activity," and during a vehicle stop, a suspect resisted and tried to drive his vehicle into the arrest team.
32-year-old Jasmine Gao became the victim of an officer-involved shooting 0n November 19, 2024 in the parking lot of Union City Station, and the earliest reports about the incident were confusing. BART said that Gao had assaulted a BART police officer, but a subsequent release of bodyworn camera footage from the incident showed that no assault occurred. A BART police officer, Nicholas Poblete, claimed that he was dragged by Gao's vehicle when she attempted to drive away.
The Santa Clara Police Department received a 911 call reporting a "disturbance between two roommates" out of four people living at the 1800 block of Eisenhower Drive just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Santa Clara Police Chief Cory Morgan said in a press conference Friday. On the way to the address, officers were told that the situation had become a stabbing. Officer Robert Allsup arrived and identified himself, then kicked down the door after hearing "a loud commotion inside," according to Morgan.
Around 6:18 a.m., police say officers responded to a stabbing victim off Eisenhower Drive. Police say when officers arrived, they encountered a suspect, and shot and killed them. Tey did not say why officers opened fire or if the suspect had a weapon. Police say the officer was not injured. Warren Parinas lives next door, he said he heard the gunshots.
