Jersey City is diverse and has a cultural depth that the locals are only too happy to share. The city opposite New York City on the Hudson River has breathtaking views of the Big Apple's skyline and the Statue of Liberty is clearly visible. Despite New York having legal jurisdiction over the statue, her location is within the boundaries of Jersey City.
The packaging company, Garlock Flexibles, is closing down two facilities in Gardner and laying off 91 employees, according to a WARN notice filed with the state. The company says it anticipates the facilities at 164 Fredette St. and 77 Industrial Rowe will close by the end of September. The notice says that a small number of administrative and leadership positions will remain after the plant closures.
Rhode Island is becoming a model for housing policy in other states. We've passed more than 60 new housing laws that are having real results. He cited a 70% increase in building permits in 2023, the largest since the Great Recession. He also noted that construction takes time. We are still trying to play catch-up for all the years that Rhode Island was dead last in the country for new housing starts.

Newburyport, a quaint coastal town shaped by centuries of maritime life, is a hidden gem in Massachusetts. Set at the mouth of the Merrimack River, and not far from the New Hampshire border, it carries an easy, unforced charm. Here, fishermen still bring in the day's catch and the ocean influences everyday life. Shops are made for and by the locals, the bakeries feel comforting, and vast, unspoiled beaches line the coastline.
The Boston Public Library, which dates back to 1848, features a beautiful central building in Copley Square with grand murals and fascinating exhibitions. McKim Courtyard, situated right in the middle, provides a perfect place to take a peaceful moment to relax before or after strolling through the stacks. The best part is that the library is free and open to the public.
