Spotify CEO Gustav Söderström said this week that some of the company's most senior developers haven't written any code in weeks - and that a positive development. "When I speak to my most senior engineers - the best developers we have - they actually say that they haven't written a single line of code since December," he said. "They actually only generate code and supervise it."

The biotechnology company Thermo Fisher Scientific is closing its Franklin facility, impacting up to 80 workers, the company said. In a statement to Boston.com, Thermo Fisher said it is closing its chemical analysis facility by the end of 2026. Most of the work will move to other U.S. facilities, as the company adjusts operations to meet current customer demand. The company said impacted workers will receive job transition support, with many employees relocating to other Massachusetts-based facilities.

Artificial intelligence (AI) seems to be constantly marching forward across nearly every industry. While food service is an area that has long relied on human touch (be it via skilled cooks or friendly faces interacting with customers), it too is facing a new wave of AI-powered technologies. These innovations are often sold as being a means to improve working conditions by increasing efficiency and reducing stress - particularly in hectic fast food kitchens -

Hyundai says it "plans to integrate Atlas across its global network", including a plant in the US state of Georgia that was involved in a massive immigration raid in 2025. Other firms that have said they will use humanoid robots in their operations include Amazon, Tesla and Chinese car making giant BYD. The Atlas robots will gradually take on more tasks, said Hyundai.

Matt Garman, the CEO of Amazon Web Services, is looking to change that. At the recent AWS re:Invent conference, Garman announced a bunch of frontier AI models, as well as a tool designed to let AWS customers build models of their own. That tool, Nova Forge, allows companies to engage in what's known as custom pretraining-adding their data in the process of building a base model-which should allow for vastly more customized models that suit a given company's needs.
