Aslam's Rasoi faces closure due to rising rent, costs, and lower sales after nearly 20 years in San Francisco's Mission District.
Starting on July 5, six to eight workers from Ahsing Solutions have come to the Mission every day from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. to clean the streets, deter illegal activity, reverse overdoses, and connect homeless people and drug users to city services.
Tracing the exact origins of these behemoth burritos is a bit of a tricky endeavor, but hefty Mission-style burritos are definitively associated with San Francisco. Burrito shops within the heavily latino Mission District of the city specialized in selling burritos filled with pork, flavorful Mexican rice, beans, and avocado wrapped up into large flour tortillas for years before they were first slid across counters at Chipotle.
Chava's Restaurant has closed after 24 years due to the difficult economic situation, with many customers leaving San Francisco. Owner Elba Hernandez is selling kitchen equipment and decorations before the final closure on July 15.
Florecita's pop-up bakery in the Mission stands out with its airy conchas topped with light, crumbly toppings, available in various unique flavors like blue corn and peach cobbler.
