Smart & Final has tendered an offer to lease the vacant Fillmore Safeway space, but the deal's acceptance remains uncertain as other grocers may join the fray.

Anyone-whether single or part of a blossoming polycule-who's begrudgingly sworn their fingers off app-swiping can be found at the Safeway. Otherwise known as Dateway for its inexplicably high number of relationship success stories, there's nowhere better in the city for a cart-bumping meet-cute than down the aisles of this big-box grocery store.

According to SFGate, Safeway plans to convert the sign's neon lettering to LED, though the site adds that the sign's red letters will remain.
