A Berkeley man has died more than a month after he suffered a head injury when he crashed his scooter on the Cal campus, authorities said. UC Berkeley Police said the man was found unconscious on Dec. 1 near Moffitt Library in the center of campus, after witnesses said he fell off his scooter at high speed and hit his head. The man was unconscious but breathing at the time, Sgt. Jacob Westlie wrote in an email, and was taken to a hospital.

OAKLAND A 36-year-old man was charged with week with attacking two UC Berkeley police officers, slicing the hand of one, while the officers attempted to take a 12-inch knife from the suspect, according to court records. Xavier Shirley, of Oakland, was charged with assaulting a police officer a felony as well as possessing a dangerous weapon at school, and a misdemeanor count of battery upon another peace officer.

The thing that carved a path for me was the UC Berkeley music department. The practice rooms were also being used by a program called the Young Musicians Program (YMP) that taught local kids. Since I was in that practice room all the time, I met teachers who were also gigging musicians in the area. I started playing with them and slowly started doing gigs.

BERKELEY, Calif. (KGO) -- The Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the Justice Department plans to visit UC Berkeley Thursday. Harmeet Dhillon announced an investigation into Monday's protests ahead of a Turning Point USA tour event. Dhillon's visit also comes as comedian Rob Schneider plans to sue the school over its handling of the protests. He was a speaker.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday it is investigating how UC Berkeley prepared for a Turning Point USA event Monday night that sparked intense protests on campus. In two letters posted on X and addressed to university officials, the department's Civil Rights Division requested campus communication records related to how the university prepared security for the event and responded to the protests.

The University of California (UC), Berkeley in the United States has provided information on more than 150 faculty members and students to President Donald Trump's administration, as part of a federal investigation into alleged incidents of anti-Semitism on college campuses nationwide. UC Berkeley said on Friday the names of the 160 students, faculty and staff were sent to the US Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, and affected members of the campus were notified by the institution last week.
