SAN JOSE The man arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting three people at a South San Jose apartment earlier this week made news six years ago when he was accused of shooting at the San Jose State University library, part of a criminal record that details trouble with guns and bouts of mental illness. Joseph Vicencio, 26, of San Jose, was arrested in connection with a shooting that killed three people at an apartment on Chynoweth Avenue on Sept. 16, 2025.

SAN JOSE Three men were arrested for allegedly robbing two separate people they met with on the pretense of buying expensive items from online marketplaces, authorities said. The three suspects two 19-year-old men and an 18-year-old man who was a juvenile at the time of the incidents allegedly carried out the two robberies on June 11, according to a press release from the San Jose Police Department.
A judge has ordered Ricardo Gonzalez Ruiz, whom Berkeley police shot at the end of a nearly hour-long standoff in April, to be tried on 10 felony charges and one misdemeanor. Two Berkeley police officers, a sergeant and a detective testified before Superior Court Judge Thomas Reardon during Ruiz's day-long preliminary hearing Friday. Police had previously released information about the guns they found in Ruiz's apartment, a shotgun and a compressed air rifle, and that there had been evidence someone had fired the air rifle.
In the July 2024 raid, police seized 11 guns, a quarter-pound of pills containing fentanyl, seven pounds of MDMA, 2.2 pounds of cocaine, roughly 2,400 Xanax pills, 150 grams of ketamine, and 1.7 pounds of cutting agent, as well as smaller quantities of methamphetamine, LSD, and various hallucinogens. Ocampo's then-girlfriend and two people who were present in his kitchen attempting to cook roughly 24 pounds of marijuana into edible products, according to police.
Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler pleaded guilty to a DUI charge but had three other charges, including for possession of a handgun while under the influence, dropped during a Tennessee court appearance Tuesday following his October 2024 arrest. The 2008 Pro Bowl player was sentenced to four days in Williamson County jail, which he is set to start serving Sept. 29, according to WSMV-TV in Nashville.
Joao Victor Da Silva Soares, a 21-year-old Brazilian national, was indicted for allegedly dealing firearms without a license and conspiracy to engage in that business.
